Michelle Obama’s Hair!

Monday April 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Rosa Mexicano, 575 7th Street, join Winston Lord, Mark Ein, Elliott Bisnow, and Joel Holland for a great networking event for the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. Open bar and appetizers. All proceeds from $35 entry fee support NFTE. Sign up.

Last night, celebrity hairstylist Johnny Wright, who coiffed Michelle’s hair for the Dem Convention, was in town checking out venues for a new reality TV show. We caught up with him at the Australian Embassy for the Americas Polo Cup kick off party.

The Cup, May 8-9, will have fashion, cool planes, music (American Idol Star Michael Johns will debut his new song, Dangerous), and, oh yeah, polo matches between the US and Australia. Here, Johnny is welcomed to DC by Navy Lieutenants Kristen Murdock and Brenna Scharp and BAU Systems’ Peri Baykan.

First Chukker teammates Hausfeld LLP’s Andrew Bullion, Paradise Springs’ Kirk Wiles, and Sweetgreen’s Nathaniel Ru, with Jacklyn Gower and The Belo Bureau’s Ashley Patterson, are in the polo mood (at least we hope that’s the reason for the boots.)

Founder of Americas Polo Cup, and co-hosts of the evening, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, stand in front of the coveted trophy with Army Sgt. Antonio Giuliano. The Cup honors the WWII Battle of Coral Sea, where the US, Australia, and Allied forces defeated Japan.

At the After Party at Beacon Bar and Grill: Wright & Talisman’s Corey Kuhns, teacher Meredith Griffanti, McEnearney Associates’ Allison Goodhart, OPM’s Lauren Schab, and Leukemia Lymphoma Society Woman of the Year candidate, Nadine Namoff.

Cool QB!

Yesterday, we met up with Jason Campbell at Redskins Park to learn more about his upcoming charity golf classic on April 27 and try to get a sneak peak at next season. Eager to give back and to honor a former classmate who had Leukemia, Jason became involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with the first Annual Jason Campbell Golf Classic at Lowes Island Club last year. Since he’d just come from practice when we chatted, we told him we’d use a picture we’d snapped recently of him with The Scene Bisnow reporters Vanessa Meccarielli and Kristina D’Ambrosio.

His office gave us this picture by Ned Dishman of him at his preferred sport. Although he told us he’s an average golfer (at best), and admits that Chris Cooley could beat him, he assures us he’d be better if he weren’t subject to the demands of an NFL quarterback. Regarding next season, Jason says he isn’t making any predictions, because last time he kept silent he went undefeated, when he was at Auburn. However, he promised diehard ‘Skins fans that he’ll do everything he can to give us a home playoff game this year! For more on his golf tourney, see Where to be Scene below.

Sushi!

Who’d have thought some of the best sushi can be found at the same spot tater tots are popular? Sticky Rice in the H St. Corridor, NE features such tasty favorites during Karaoke Tuesdays and Sushi Heaven Mondays, with half-price sushi from 10:30 PM to midnight. Try the sticky balls and drawn-n-buttered rolls! This two-level bar and restaurant boasts a very chill, sexy Tokyo-inspired décor with DJs and a late-night menu to satisfy anyone’s craving.
