AFC STABILIZES ON TWO
August 8, 2011
In baseball, this would be a helluva double play. In CRE, it's just another day for one of Atlanta's biggest office landlords.
Nipping at the heels of Morris Manning & Martin's surprising renewal (today is metaphor mixing Monday), SunTrust Robinson Humphrey announced last week that it, too, is renewing and expanding by more than 100k SF at the Buckhead glass castle known as Atlanta Financial Center. Jones Lang LaSalle's Dom Wyant, Chris Wagner, and Brad Armstrong helped the venerable investment banking firm in its search that eyed towers all along the Peachtree Street stretch. The firm will now move from its current home at SunTrust Plaza (where it uses roughly 100k SF) to a new consolidated regional HQ at Hines Interests' AFC where it will take 230k SF (including the 90k SF SunTrust Robinson Humphrey already leases at AFC) for 11 years.
Heckuva year for a helluva guy, Hines' John Heagy. The veteran office broker not only snagged SunTrust, but as widely reported, he helped to sway Morris Manning & Martin to stay put instead of head off to The Campanile Building. The two deals mean that the 905k SF AFC is now at 85% leased. Hines' Tori Kerr, Brian Eichenseer, and Scott Martin also repped the landlord in the SunTrust deal. JLL's Gannon Shepherd and Duncan Gibbs repped Morris Manning & Martin.
