BIKING IN THE DONATIONS
November 16, 2010
We peddled over to Ackerman & Co. SVP Ted Schwartz's office in Sandy Springs yesterday so he could show off his bike. He brought it out in preparation for the kickoff to the 2011 American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure network and fundraising series. Ted is chairing the CRE industry's Tour de Cure fundraising efforts with its first event Wednesday evening at Gordon Biersch in Buckhead. The group is attempting to round up 10 CRE biking teams to participate in the May 15th Tour de Cure starting at the Bouckaert Farm in Fairburn. Bikers need to be sponsored at a minimum of $150 per person. ?You don't have to be a professional rider to do this,? he says. For Ted, his involvement with ADA is personal, reflecting efforts at his own 17-year battle with Type I diabetes. Cousins Properties and R.J. Griffin & Co. are silver sponsors of the networking event, and Ted say he'll be giving away $1K in prizes. More info can be found at www.diabetes.org/ATL. |
