CARTER'S MULTIFAMILY STRATEGY

| Like a lot of developers, Carter is aiming to do multifamily and student housing projects. Makes sense given the current capital environment is infatuated with apartments and for-rent housing. But Carter's John Akin tells us that in 2012, the firm will be mostly looking outside of Atlanta for such projects. The reason: Those getting under way here will ?fill demand? for the time being. Instead, John says Carter is eyeing projects across the Southeast and even in the Southwest. Most recently, it announced plans for a student housing project in Tuscaloosa. (John secretly just loves SEC football.) |
