CLEAN AIR'S GOOD
And further on our Earth Day theme: Clean Air Campaign executive director Kevin Green is on a mission to get Georgia companies to adopt ?compressed workweeks.? That's when employees work four 10-hour days—reducing carbon emissions from commuters. Kevin cites the example of Lathem Time, an Atlanta manufacturer that implemented its CWW program in 2005 because of soaring gas prices. Now 85% of employees work a compressed week, and the company has enjoyed reduced absenteeism, greater employee retention, and utility cost savings. The Campaign is offering free consulting services and up to $2,000 to cover training for firms that want to compress. To learn more, check out the Clean Air Campaignwebsite. And yes, his last name really is Green! |
