CORTLAND NABS GABLES CFO
September 26, 2011
There's no longer any denying that Atlanta-based Cortland Partners is in growth mode. It just snagged Marvin Banks, the CFO of Gables Residential.
Marvin, who joins the multifamily investment firm along with three other Gables staffers, oversaw Gables' $475M IPO and eventual $2.8B sale. Other hires include Melanie Gersper, who will be president of Cortland's property management subsidiary Anthem Management Services, Melanie Bunting (not pictured) as VP of accounting, and Meryl Bornheim as a senior financial analyst.
The hires come at a time when Cortland has been aggressively buying properties, including a slew of apartments earlier this month. Cortland's chief accounting officer Brad Brown (above) tells us that while some opportunistic pricing has become too aggressive, the company could be buying more complexes here in Atlanta over the next 12 to 15 months. Atlanta's young population along with Echo Boomers (who are entering their renting years) bodes well for the city's multifamily fundamentals, Brad says.
