COULD ATL BEAT DC?
At today's panel, where more than 350 joined us for our multifamily event, JLB Partners' Hudson Hooks says Atlanta is finally finding favor with capital sources for mulitfamily projects. Hudson says many lenders are ?taking a wait-and-see attitude? in such markets as DC and Texas because of fear that the industry may be outstripping demand. ?For now, I think Atlanta's a place where things are going to get done because we were a little bit behind,? he says. AMLI Residential?s Fred Schreiber tells us he's working on a couple of deals. While those are inside the city limits—where a huge portion of the new pool of apartment units are focused—Fred says AMLI would like to build a suburban project, but zoning restrictions make it difficult to accomplish. |
