Cousin's Big HQ Coup!
August 6, 2013
A major chemical coatings company has a new North American HQ in Alpharetta. And, brace yourself, it came from a cold call. (Hard work pays off. And luck pays when you ink a deal from a butt dial.)
Allnex—known as Cytec Coating Resins before a private equity buyout of more than $1B this year—will move into the former Inhibitex building at 9005 Westside Pkwy. It's a big deal both for Cousins Properties (which has been trying to fill the building since Inhibitex left) and for Cresa's Kathy Burke, who repped Allnex. "You won't believe it. It was a cold call. An unbelievably blind cold call," Kathy recalls. Above, she's with her son Michael at their house on Lake Lanier.
Kathy says she contacted Belgium-based Allnex in April and within weeks helped the coatings company secure the new HQ, moving from its 41k SF offices at 1950 Lake Park Dr in Smyrna. Allnex, which makes resins and coatings for paints, wood, metals, and vehicles, is taking the entire 51k SF Alpharetta building. (After all, their name isn't Partial-nex.) Cousins Properties' Bill Hollett brokered for the landlord. Advent International bought the company earlier this year and will also have lab space at the former Inhibitex facility.
