DOLLARS FOR DEBT
Action is picking up in the real estate market as we see more investors, maturing debt, and fluctuating spreads, says MetLife regional director Tom Coakley, one of the all-star panelists at our Aug. 18 Capital Markets event.

?We continue to see this as a good time to put up as much high-quality investment mortgage money as we can,? he adds. Still, Tom is cautious as commercial loans backed by CMBS are coming to maturity down the road. On the equity side, Tom says MetLife is looking only at strategic opportunities (which are few and far between) to expand its portfolio. What helps: having a reputable name, such as MetLife. Tom is also certainly aware of competition from agencies, which have helped maintain cap rates (in a still unstable multifamily market). Tom will be surrounded by capital markets gurus at our Aug. 18 event: Eastdil managing director Mike McDonald, Trimont managing director John Charles, North American Properties founder Mark Toro, Tishman regional director Jim Meyer, HFF senior managing director Mark Sixour, ING Real Estate Finance honcho Jason Tessler, Frazier & Deeter founding partner David Deeter, and Colliers International SVP  Hank Hall. Plus great networking. Not too late to sign up!
