DUKE'S BIG NAIOP AWARD
December 5, 2011
A little HQ job was among the deals that helped propel Duke Realty into being named the CRE Office Owner/Developer of the Year by NAIOP. (Somehow Meryl Streep came in second.)
Last week, Duke Realty's Chris Brown (here with Robinson Weeks'Forrest Robinson) took home the honors during NAIOP's annual award ceremony at the InterContinental Buckhead. ?They just had a terrific year with big deals as well as smaller deals,? says Cousins Properties' Thad Ellis, who was on the selection committee. Those deals include the HQ 345k SF build-to-suit at Legacy Park for Primerica and the Rock-Tenn renewal and expansion in Norcross. (Wonder if he will keep his award in the bathroom, like Kate Winslet does with her Oscar.)
We caught outgoing NAIOP president Parkway Properties' Bill Hollett, NAIOP's exec director Debbie Koenig, and incoming NAIOP president Granite Properties' John Robbins during the event. The NAIOP selection committee also awarded Robinson Weeks with the Owner/Developer of the Year award for its string of industrial purchases across the South, Thad tells us. ?They're just the gold standard,? he says. ?They had a plan to go acquire and execute, and they did it.?
Here we have Reznick Group's A-team, including Bruce Van Vreede, Wes Hudson, Hampton Mallis, and Joanee Elgart taking top honors as NAIOP's Associate Firm of the Year. Reznick Group has had a huge 2011, even moving its offices to Buckhead in one of the more headline-catching office deals of 2011.
