June 13, 2011
New student housing will continue to bloom at Emory University (Go Eagles) for the next couple of years.
Emory University is now in its fourth phase of new student housing along Asbury Circle, a 125-bed dormitory that's part of a five-phase plan for a lot of new student beds, says Dr. Andrea Trinklein, who heads student housing at the esteemed university. ?We've been building a new building about every year or two,? Andrea says, adding that the developments are part of an outgrowth of a master plan established in 2006. Andrea will be one of our illustrious panelists for this Thursday's Atlanta Student Housing Summit at the Westin Buckhead Atlanta (tickets available here). She also says all of the new student housing buildings are LEED certified—at the very least LEED Silver. New South Construction is the GC on these projects (seen above). The fifth and final phase will raze an existing student housing building in favor of a new one.
