Firehouse Subs On Fire
Last year, Firehouse Subsopened 98 restaurants across the country. This year, itplans 139 more, including a handful in Atlanta. And it's targetingmore than 300 over the next few years, says Firehouses Greg Delks, right with John Namey. (It has more than 600 franchised restaurants now.) The recession was a moment in time for us to grab market share, Greg says. There was some prime real estate in the leased space available. Aside from further US growth, Greg says Firehouse looks to expand in non-traditional space such as airports, military bases, college campuses, stadiums,and casinos. And the company is negotiating franchise agreements in both Canada and Mexico. I fully anticipate having restaurants open north and south of the border in 2014.
