GORE TELLS TALE
August 2, 2010
JLL Atlanta head Clark Gore calls 2009 and 2010 "the tale of two markets." Last year, he says, was the worst year in real estate history, with the possible exception of the Great Depression. "This year, someone pulled the emergency brake off and pressed the gas."
We snapped Gore at the Buckhead Club on Friday. (You know it has important clientele because as soon as our camera came out, everyone must've split.) He says every business line at JLL in Atlanta is up from last year, between 10% and 35%. The Corporate Solutions Group (the analysis, research and long-run implementation team) is enjoying big growth as more organizations (such as AT&T, Coke and the United Way) choose to outsource. The unit was even growing in '09, when other parts of the business were struggling, Clark says.
We asked Clark about leasing activity and he shared stats that demonstrate just how hot Buckhead really is in 2010. JLL has leased year-to-date 650K SF there-compared with 247K in Midtown, 235K in North Fulton, 115K in North Central, 305 K in Northwest, 90K in Northeast, and 80K downtown. One of the biggest Buckhead leases was 100K for Novelis at Two Alliance Center, above. |
