HOUSING SKY DONE FALLING
July 13, 2011
Remember Grant Grimes? Remember that hat? The former CRE pro—who spent 15 years at Equitable Real Estate and helped develop Monarch Towers in Buckhead—jumped to the other team when the market crashed earlier this decade. He's been doing residential home inspections for the past year or so under the moniker of Double G Home Inspections and recently offered us some insight on the market. He feels residential has actually hit or is very close to hitting bottom on pricing. That's because there's a science now when establishing new values for foreclosures (whereas the credit crunch caused housing values to drop so fast and drastically, determining value was a little Wild West). Plus, banks are more willing now to accept the reality of housing values. Grant feels there will be a ?general upward movement very slowly? in pricing starting this year, with steady improvement over the next 24 months. Oh, by the way, Grant tells us he's actively looking to get back into the CRE industry, possibly as a facilities director or project manager. |
