Health(y) Business for Turner
June 22, 2010
We decided to check out Turner Construction's latest hometown project, the CDC?s Building 23 (gotta love the CDC?s sexy naming strategy). It's one of about 125 healthcare facilities Turner (the largest healthcare builder in the US, according to Engineering News-Record) delivers each year. |
The 730K SF building on Clifton Road was designed by CUH2A (with HQ in Princeton, NJ, and an office in Atlanta). The facility completes the replacement of all outdated CDC biological laboratories, including the oldest lab buildings on the CDC?s main campus. What's happening inside Building 23? Research on malaria, AIDS, parasitic diseases, Salmonella, and E. coli. Regardless of LEED status, the building will have plenty of green faces. |
