LARGEST 10K EVER
July 6, 2010
We snapped 1776 Peachtree during the July 4th Peachtree Road Race because we wanted an excuse to cover of the world?s largest 10K. The 217K SF office complex shined in the spotlight as 55K participants ran, walked, or rolled past it. Denholtz bought the circa 1961 complex, comprising two seven-story towers (connected by a skywalk) in 2005 for $19M and has upgraded it. Denholtz also hired Brad Smith?s Resource Real Estate Partners to lease it. |
Local retailers got into the act as well. Mellow Mushroom at Peachtree and 26th hosted local radio station Rock 100.5, which stationed a DJ to deliver shout-outs to runners, encouraging them. ?Only 2.2 miles to go!? he yelled. The Kroger at Selig?s Brookwood Place provided ice, which runners eagerly stopped to pick up as they continued toward the goal line at Piedmont Park. Runners had to love the relatively cool weather and low humidity. Could have been much, much worse. |
