LEED HOPES FOR 171 17TH ST

| Carter's Jonathon Barge is leading the charge to achieve LEED-EB for Carter's Property Management team at Atlantic Station's 171 17th St (already LEED C&S Silver certified), and another unnamed office tower in the metro area. To glean some strategy, we hope you'll join us this Tuesday at the Westin Buckhead when Jonathon, who chairs Carter's "green team," is one of our featured panelists at Bisnow'sAtlanta Sustainability Summit. He admits there's a considerable expense in time and building improvements in pursuing LEED, but those buildings which gain the certification ?have a leg up.? Still, some landlords are engaging in sustainable practices in buildings even if they don't pursue the expensive LEED cert. Those practices can still help landlords control energy and water costs.
