LEED IN-HOUSE
June 24, 2010
Fifth Street prez Harry Conley and Nancy Elliott, who manages Riverwood 100 on behalf of Fifth Street, can celebrate because the building just got LEED status, particularly sweet since they headed up the certification themselves, instead of hiring an outside consultant. The 23-story tower is in the Cumberland submarket and is owned by GE Asset Management and Seven Oaks Co. The duo tells us there are several advantages to handling certification internally, including saving ownership $100K-$300K in LEED consultant fees. It also offered a challenge for the management and engineering staff, who gained a better understanding of the process and what it takes to operate a LEED-certified building. |
