LOTTERY KEEPS GROWING
July 15, 2010
We snapped this sign this morning at a gas station on Piedmont— and apparently plenty of Georgians are taking the sign?s message to heart. The Georgia Lottery said yesterday it grew its profits again in FY 2010, for the 12th straight year. The lottery recorded nearly $884M in profits, up $11.7M from the year before. The bad news is that even with the growth, the lottery isn't generating enough money to cover the programs it's supposed to fund. The state had to tap into a reserve fund this year to cover the costs of HOPE. |
