Loudermilk Talks Buckhead Theatre, Redevelopment
A strip of old school Buckhead Village retail could be redeveloped in the coming months. Aaron Rents co-founder and developer Charlie Loudermilk tells us his firm is looking to redevelop the strip of single-story shops at Peachtree and East Paces Ferry Road that's now home to The Fish Hawk fishing supplier, among others. Most recently, Buckhead View reported that Loudermilk approached area officials about tearing down those spaces. Charlie tells us what exactly is taking its place is still unknown but his company could develop a three-story retail project with a central courtyard parking lot. “We've had two or three proposals floating around," he says. "I haven't seen any of them that really turned me on. We don't know what the heck we're going to do with it.”
And since The Loudermilk Cos is looking to sell the Buckhead Theatre's parking lot to The Hanover Cos for an apartment project (we reported here), we asked Charlie whether the theater itself is up for sale. “Never say never with anything. But it's not on the market now. I'm enjoying it. We're doing well with it,” he says. “It's an asset to the city, and I think the city knows that. It seems like the Fox Theatre in Buckhead.”
