Charlie Hendon is rockin' back! We chatted with the Hendon Properties' founder at The Shopping Center Group party at the Four Seasons in Vegas; he tells us he's begun work on the first new retail development since before the Great Recession: a Harris Teeter and Marshalls-anchored power center in Charleston. |
Also at the Four Seasons, we ran into DLC Management Corp's Michael Puline with Franklin Street's Caroline Cheng. Michael says he's helping Walmart install its first Neighborhood Market (the scaled-down grocery concept) in Georgia at Bethesda Walk shopping center in Lawrenceville. It opens in June. |
Why Atlanta? It's the question we asked Horizon Group Properties' CEO Gary Skoien yesterday. HGP (in a JV with CBL & Associates) is developing The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta, an $85M open-air outlet mall off I-575 and Ridgewalk Parkway in Cherokee County. ?We started to realize Atlanta was probably the largest market that didn't have a super-strong outlet,? Gary says. The project is 75% pre-leased with such tenants as Saks Fifth Avenue's Off 5th, Guess, Puma, Cole Haan, Levis, Talbots and Brooks Brothers. |
