PROGRESS AT THE WESTIN
While we were Downtown, we stopped by the Westin Peachtree Plaza to snap evidence of the progress. The tallest hotel in the Western Hemisphere has been undergoing a complete exterior renovation after that March '08 tornado. Skanska USA is replacing all 6,350 windows with thicker, more energy-efficient glass. At a rate of one floor a week, the 73-story hotel should have a completely new skin by year?s end. The hotel, designed by John Portman in the ?70s, was Atlanta's tallest building until One Atlantic Center in 1987. |
