SOON TO BE FLIPPING MORE BURGERS
October 14, 2010
Here's something that may flip your lid (or burger in this case): Famed Atlanta joint Flip Burger Boutique is set to expand again, not only with a second Atlanta location opening Tuesday, but a new one farther north as well. |
We snapped Flip GM Tom Hackett grilling up some delicious meat at Flip's Howell Mill restaurant. Co-owner Ron Stewart gave us more on the growth plans. On Tuesday, Flip will have a grand opening of its second Atlanta location in a former Blockbuster at the corner of Roswell and Piedmont in Buckhead. And Ron says Flip is on track to open a fourth location in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, DC. More Flip locations are on the menu. This includes training management and scouting viable locations and continuing to grow its brand awareness. |
Flip is actually Ron's second career, spending 30 years as a "road warrior" for Accenture before he retired in 2007. He partnered with local restaurant executive Barry Mills, who came up with the Flip concept that same year, and bankrolled the first Flip location on Howell Mill Road. The duo quickly expanded into Birmingham. Despite competition from other boutique burger chains—namely Five Guys Burgers and Fries—Ron says he feels there is plenty of demand for unique burgers. "America has always been in love with the burger." |
