SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: Team In Training Fights Leukemia

Atlanta

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) deputy executive director Maureen Davidson tells us that its Team In Training program is celebrating its 25th year. That's a quarter century (and 600,000 participants) of training non-athletes for events that raise money for LLS (so far, $1.4B for life-saving cancer research therapies). Maureen says that participants get involved for a number of reasons: To do something challenging for a good cause; to help a friend or family member who may be suffering; or to honor the memory of someone who died from leukemia or lymphoma. The Team in Training program kicks off in January, with events taking place in May and June. Fundraising efforts include marathons, triathalons, cycling, and hiking. Coaches help expand participants' fitness levels with workouts, nutrition, and hydration clinics (with staff members to help with fundraising support).
