SUN SHINE FOOD BANK
May 2, 2011
We always knew that sunlight was free, but the Atlanta Community Food Bank has found a way to get solar panels installed free as well. (For those of you who've been paying for sunlight, consider this double good news.)
James Marlow, CEO of Radiance Solar (right) discussed the solar array his company installed on the roof of the food bank's Midtown HQ with a group that included State Rep. Don Parsons. Overall, it's 174 panels (developed by Norcross-based Suniva) producing 58,000 kWh of energy every year. Radiance Solar was able to install the array at no cost through a renewable energy grant from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority. We're uncertain if the solar array can also double as a warming lamp for ready-to-eat meals.
