SURVIVOR ATLANTA
May 14, 2010
Post Properties founder John Williams is not an Atlanta and national multifamily icon for nothin?. Although his latest signature project, The Mansion on Peachtree, was recently sold at foreclosure, the resilient vet is poised for another comeback.
Yesterday, we snapped the apartment king as he sat down with friends for lunch at Blue Ridge Grill. So what's he up to? The now CEO of Williams Realty Advisors told us simply, ?trying to survive.? The 44-year vet is often credited as the first to brand—and lavishly landscape—apartment communities. At the peak, John positioned Post as a national apartment company with communities from New York to California. His bio includes more than 40 awards, honors, and medals. John has also been named one of the 20th Century?s Most Influential Developers by National Real Estate Investor.
About 10 years ago, John and Post earned national accolades for the Post Riverside mixed-use development in North Atlanta. The project was hailed as an ideal example of new urbanism, and other developers used it as inspiration for their own projects. So despite the recent setback, when John says he's ?got a couple things going,? we think that's code for ?keep your eyes peeled.?
