Scoutmob Co-Founder Buying Flatiron?
October 10, 2013
The co-founder of Atlanta social media sensation Scoutmob may be close to buying a historic piece of Downtown Atlanta office.
Sources tell us that Scoutmob's Michael Tavani is in talks to buy The Flatiron Building, a 41k SF pie-slice shaped office building at 84 Peachtree St for an undisclosed sum from Historic Urban Equities, which has held the building since 1978. (If any of us are still holding onto something from 1978 it might be time for a yard sale.) Michael confirmed that "a group of creatives and I have been exploring the idea and looking at a few spaces." And he says this has nothing to do with Scoutmob's HQ, which has a lease at 590 Mean St for another year.
Details on what Michael will do with the building are slim as well. We reached Historic Urban Equities' Jim Cumming, who declined to identify who he was in talks with to sell Flatiron. But he did leave us with this cryptic remark: " I feel that it's quite positive for downtown." (Bisnow: now with intrigue!)
