THE REAL THING

Atlanta
THE REAL THING
No, we don't think Coca-Cola CEO Muhtar Kent was spilling the secret formula, but we did snap him last night with Washington Post Chairman Bo Jones at a dinner in DC.

THE REAL THING
Muhtar gave us a scoop, though: He'll be going to the World Cup(they've got a huge marketing campaign built around it) and rooting for Argentina. As for CCE and office space at Wildwood, he assured us all integration matters are being carefully considered. He gave the business crowd an impassioned plea for the US to lighten up on what he called the most onerous tax system among OECD countries, and to see the rise of other countries as a good thing: He says Coke has just expanded a plant in Florida and added lots of jobs there due to increasing Asian taste for citrus beverages.
THE REAL THING
On the topic of World Cup: Bill Clinton  spoke about bringing it to the US the other day when he was in DC. (In fact, he was at a massive summit for philanthropic young minds put on by our publisher's son,Elliott, seen here mid-embrace). The US is trying to get its own piece of the action in  2018 or 2022 and Clinton has joined the USA Bid Committee. Atlanta is  one of 18 cities listed as potential hosts if the US wins its bid. The World Cup also has a way of transforming cities. Anybody remember the big ?96 party in Berlin?
