Sherwin-Williams Keeping HQ In Cleveland
Sherwin-Williams' corporate headquarters won't be painting the town red after all.
After a months-long, multistate search, Sherwin-Williams announced Thursday that it intends to stay in Downtown Cleveland in a new construction, 1M SF headquarters. It also will develop a 500K SF research and development facility in a suburb of Cleveland that will anchor a larger mixed-use project.
The company already has its Southeast division office in Atlanta, with 48K SF at 2800 Century Parkway in Atlanta, according to CoStar.
“Our plans to continue investing in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio build on our 154-year legacy as one of the region’s top employers and drivers of economic activity,” Sherwin-Williams CEO John Morikis said in a release. “The major planned investment in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio we are announcing today reflects our confidence in the continued strength of the region and its people and our public partners’ ability to deliver on their commitments.”
Atlanta was among the cities considered by Sherwin-Williams, Bisnow reported last year, for its potential headquarters after the company publicly announced its search last September. Sources previously told Bisnow that the company conducted a site search in Atlanta at some point last year. Piedmont Office Realty Trust CEO Brent Smith told analysts in November that the paints and coatings giant toured its Galleria Office Park in Cobb County as a possible build-to-suit site.
