Core5 Powers Up With Duracell At Shugart Farms
A big-time battery-maker is putting a copper top on Shugart Farms, along with adding up to 800 new jobs to the Metro Atlanta economy.
Duracell has inked a deal to lease all of Core5 Logistics Center at Shugart Farms, at 5000 Bohannon Road in Fairburn, from Core5 Industrial Partners. Core5 broke ground last year on the spec, 874k SF warehouse.
The facility — being operated for Duracell by third-party operators Sonoco and DHL — consolidates packaging and shipping functions from other states, said Core5's Lisa Ward (here). It's close to Duracell's LaGrange manufacturing facility.
For Core5, Shugart Farms was among 7M SF in industrial pipeline bets this past year, and one that has paid off. The project, off Interstate 85 south of the city, is surrounded by a number of other big-box industrial operations, including Clorox, Smuckers, Electrolux and Amazon.com, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
Ward said total employment at the facility will vary, but at its peak, it could be to 800 people. JLL's Kris Bjorson and Bill Kee repped Duracell while Cushman & Wakefield's Ray Stache, Pat Murphy, Lisa Pittman and James Phillpott represented Core5.
