Loehmann's Plaza Gets a "Fresh" Facelift
Can you ever get used to calling Loehmann's Plaza “Brighten Park?” Regency Centers Corp hopes so. The retail landlord revealed plans to revamp the Druid Hills landmark, plans that include fitting in a new Fresh Market. Regency's Andre Koleszar says the name is to convey ideas of healthy, fresh, sustainable and modern.
Is this part of a plan to transform the shopping center into an experience for shoppers? At our April retail event, Andre (one of our panelists) told our audience that experience is critical for shopping centers. Millennials shop for reasons, not things, he said, especially in Atlanta where there is 65 SF of retail space per person versus 40 SF nationally. (We like to stretch out a bit more than other cities.)
