Athenahealth Expanding, Doubling Workforce At Ponce City Market
Just two years after doing an eyebrow-raising office deal at Ponce City Market, athenahealth is expanding at the Midtown redevelopment.
Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed made the announcement today that athenahealth will be adding 40k SF and another 1,000 employees by 2018 at Ponce City Market for athenahealth's IT division.
Athenahealth moved into the redevelopment of the former Sears Roebuck & Co warehouse in Midtown back in 2014 in a move that signaled the start of that submarket's tech renaissance that continues to this day. At the time, athenahealth officials planned to add up to 500 jobs in the location. This move doubles its workforce, officials stated.
"Strategic sites in key urban markets across the country — such as Atlanta — open up possibilities, helps us attract exciting new talent and resources, and affords us opportunities to host more prospects and clients,” Todd Haedrich, vice president and general manager for athenahealth, said in a release.
