WRS Reveals New Look Of Underground Atlanta
Welcome to the new Kenny's Alley.
WRS Inc. revealed this week its vision for the redevelopment of Underground Atlanta, including its famous Kenny's Alley area, which will include more than 150K SF of retail, office and public areas that began construction in January.
The area of focus for redevelopment right now is called Block 3, the section of Underground near Alabama Street and Central Avenue. Among the new tenants announced for Underground Atlanta are The Masquerade and a co-working pop-up called Post-Office Cowork.
“It is important for us to modernize this footprint while restoring and keeping as much of the charm as we can of this iconic area,” WRS CEO Scott Smith said in an email.
WRS purchased Underground Atlanta last year for nearly $35M from the city of Atlanta with plans to transform the once-ailing landmark into a mixed-use destination. Construction on Block 3 is expected to take 18 months, company officials said.
