Jones Day Anchoring New Colony Square Building
Jones Day is headed to a new mid-rise office project in the redevelopment of Colony Square.
The law firm, with more than 130 attorneys in Atlanta, has inked a deal with North American Properties to lease 115K SF at a new six-story, 136K SF building at the corner of 15th and Peachtree streets. Known as Building 500, it will be part of the overall Colony Square complex and deliver in 2021.
Once completed, Jones Day will leave its longtime home at Pershing Park Plaza, the landmark office building that is perched at the junction of Peachtree and West Peachtree streets in Midtown.
Savills Vice Chairman Chris White, executive managing directors John Flack, Bo Keatley and David Rubenstein and Director Brian Boyd represented Jones Day, while Cushman & Wakefield Senior Director Andy Sumlin, Directors Sonia Winfield and Laura Power brokered the deal for North American Properties.
Jones Day had evaluated many options for its office, including renewing at Pershing Park and anchoring MetLife's Midtown Heights project. That development recently snagged Invesco's world headquarters as an anchor tenant as it begins construction.
“The restaurants, retailers and entertainment at the Midtown destination in addition to public transportation access, proximity to Piedmont Park, and concentration of arts at the Woodruff Arts Center will provide an excellent work environment for our lawyers and staff,” Jones Day Partner-In-Charge Aldo LaFiandra said in a release. "This, together with our modern workspace, will allow us to continue to attract the best and brightest."
