One of Midtown's future office towers may be close to securing an online search giant for its top floors.

Google is in talks to lease about 200K SF at the 31-story 1105 West Peachtree project, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. Google could add at least 500 jobs to the metro economy with its new office, tripling its current footprint in Atlanta.

For 1105 West Peachtree's developer, Selig Enterprises, the deal is already icing on the early success of its project. Earlier this year, Atlanta law firm Smith, Gambrell & Russell announced plans to lease 100K SF at the $470M, 553K SF tower. The project also will include a 178-room Epicurean Midtown Atlanta hotel, a Marriott Autograph Collection brand that will be the first of its kind in Atlanta.

Google's move in Atlanta is part of aggressive national growth; it recently announced a new, billion-dollar campus in New York City and is taking the entirety of a 35-story office project in Austin, Texas.

The software company is the latest in a wave of corporate growth in Atlanta, much of which is gobbling up prime new office space in Midtown. Among the tenants still scouting the Atlanta market are BlackRock, Invesco, Capital One and Zillow, which is searching for a regional hub for its new homebuying division.
