Goodyear, Bridgestone-Backed Company Inks Headquarters Lease In Central Perimeter
Two tire-making giants have targeted Central Perimeter for the headquarters of a new passenger and light truck tire distributor.
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Bridgestone Americas Inc. have inked 30K SF at One Ravinia for their new joint company, TireHub, which will focus on distributing larger rim diameter premium tires, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. In economic development circles, the deal was known as Project Hawk, according to the ABC.
The new company — a 50-50 joint venture between Goodyear's wholesale distribution network and Bridgestone-owned Tire Wholesale Warehouse — will have more than 80 distribution centers and warehouses across the country, a scale that will allow it to reach a majority of retail locations in the U.S. upon launch, the company said in a statement.
“It's critical for U.S. tire dealers and retailers to be able to get the right tires on time to meet the needs and expectations of their customers,” Bridgestone Americas President TJ Higgins said in a release.
This is not the first time Bridgestone has eyed Atlanta for a major corporate presence. In 2015, the tire maker considered Metro Atlanta as a potential location for its corporate headquarters.
Instead, Bridgestone elected to stay in Downtown Nashville and tapped Highwoods Properties to build it a $200M, 30-story corporate tower.
