The Weather Co's Central Perimeter HQ Precipitates A Peachtree Corners Deal
Gov. Nathan Deal revealed a twofer office deal in Atlanta today.
The governor announced The Weather Co is officially moving its HQ from Cobb County to 1001 Perimeter Summit in Central Perimeter, bringing 400 new jobs with it, a deal that we first reported was in the works.
But what the governor didn't say was the deal was only possible with the move-out of Crawford & Co.
Sources say Crawford has struck a deal to leave 1001 Perimeter Summit and will relocate to The Midori office building in Peachtree Corners. Officials with CBRE, tasked with leasing Midori, declined to confirm the identity of the company, but confirmed that Midori is now fully leased.
Earlier this year, IBM purchased Weather Channel's digital platform and then tapped Scotland Wright & Associates' namesake Scotland Wright (on left, with his son Land and John Hancock's Shawn Collins) to scout for new HQ space in Central Perimeter for the digital division.
Some of the 400 jobs will be new positions, the governor says, in software, engineering and marketing. Details on incentives for The Weather Co to move were undisclosed, but Georgia Department of Economic Development director of existing industry and regional recruitment Lindsay Martin was named as a key negotiator in the deal.
