Google Nearing 1.2M SF Fairburn Data Center Repair Facility
One of the largest industrial deals of the year also is massive recognition of Atlanta's tech strength as Google plans to establish a 1.2M SF data center repair facility in Metro Atlanta.
Sources tell us Google—through a JV with Menlo Logistics—is in final talks to occupy Fairburn Logistics Center, a 1.2M SF cross-dock facility in South Fulton County that was launched on spec last year by TPA Group. According to a previous story, the project—on Bohannon Road in South Fulton County—should deliver by August. Google, which recently announced plans to launch Google Fiber in Metro Atlanta, is expected to operate a data center repair hub at the facility. The tech giant operates and owns its own data centers across the globe. One of the key features of Fairburn Logistics Center is its access to the CSX Intermodal facility, adjacent to the park, sources tell us. Officials with TPA and CBRE, which was tapped to lease the project, could not be reached by press time.
