A Healthier Texas
ULI Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and North Texas have teamed up to establish the ULI Texas Task Force on Building Healthy Places. (Seems like perfect timing with flu season upon us.) The program convenes developers from the four largest Texas metros to disseminate best practices and lessons learned in suburban greenfield, urban infill, and aging first-ring suburban communities. ULI Austin's new executive director David Steinwedall tells us this is the first time our region will study how developing healthy buildings can contribute to healthier employees, residents, and visitors. By next fall, the task force will publish its "Building Healthier Places in Texas" findings. The project is possible because of a $15k ULI Urban Innovation Grant and in-kind services from TBG Partners.
