Austin's Lone Star Court Invokes Nostalgia
Lone Star Court, a 123-key hotel under development in Austin, is going Texas retro. Yesterday, we snapped Valencia Group's Amy Trench and Brenda Thompson Communications Brenda Thompson in a model room for the property they're calling authentic Americana. The hotel, designed by Lauren Rottet, is meant to remind you of childhood road trips, when you pulled into a roadside motel and rushed straight to the pool. (Now all they need is your dad cursing at a map of the wrong state.) The property sits on four acres, and the rooms--in buildings no more than three stories high and each boasting a patio with baby blue rocking chairs and welcome mats--surround the pool courtyard.
The rooms boast retro amenities like vintage refrigerators, bright colors, and linoleum floors. Amy tells us the property targets travelers looking for a true Texas Hill Country experience, so it includes features like a sliding barn door, cowhide chair, and a Republic of Texas flag. And no Austin trip is complete without live music and food trucks, both of which will be available in the courtyard. The property opens this August, and then The Valencia Group will renovate hotels in San Jose and San Antonio(again with design by Lauren). We'll have more coverage on this unique hotel next week.
