This Morning in San Antonio
150 attendees joined us at the Westin Riverwalk this morning for our annual summit on the impact of the Eagle Ford Shale. The Texas Railroad Commission has called it potentially the biggest economic driver in state history, and UTSA Center for Business and Community Research director Thomas Tunstall shared some proof. The Eagle Ford Shale drove $61B in economic output in the 20-county region last year, and he says that should reach $81B this year. (That's a massive leap from $25B in output in 2011.) The play may soon surpass the Bakken in daily production. We've already jumped from 381k barrels of oil produced per day in '12 to 512k now, and that's forecasted to top 1M barrels daily in a few years. We'll have full coverage of our event in next week's publication, so don't miss it!
