New Bridge Brings Relief To Austin Commuters
Austinites will be getting a new hike-and-bike bridge over Barton Creek and Loop 360. The bridge will parallel MoPac and create a way to get from south Austin downtown without a car.
A city survey found that almost half of Austin residents want to ride a bike on a regular basis but most are afraid to, according to Time Warner Cable News Austin. The new bridge will make it possible—and safe.
The $10M project includes the bridge, protected bike lanes, and a new southbound traffic lane on MoPac.
Parts of the projects are expected to open this spring. The bridge and extra lane on MoPac should be finished this summer. [TWCN]
