On the heels of buying the Marriott San Antonio Northwest in San Antonio in June, LA-based Laurus Corp poured $12M into upgrades at The Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel on Loop 410. Laurus CIO Austin Khan tells us the property was overhauled and features the debut of Asado Seafood & Grill restaurant and lounge as well as new guestroom amenities. Austin tells us the hotel upgrades are part of the firm’s investment strategy to find well-located properties in top-tier markets with some value-add opportunity. Some of the improvements include increased WiFi speed and new room décor with upscale bedding packages. He says the renovation covers all aspects of the property, including each of the 384 guest rooms, meeting spaces, recreational amenities, and food and beverage outlets.

San Antonio is experiencing tremendous growth in population and overall employment, and given its prime location in the main office corridor and adjacent to North Star Mall, he wanted the hotel to be able to fully meet the needs of a variety of guests. He adds that over the next several months, the newly acquired Marriott San Antonio Northwest will get a transformation as part of the investment plan, similar to the Hilton. The 296-unit Marriott is in the Northwest business corridor, just north of the interchange of I-10 and I-410, in a corporate hub featuring more than 22.4M SF of office space, including the national HQ of USAA, the San Antonio Medical Center, and the major corporate offices of Accenture, Allstate, Microsoft, Harland Clarke, IBM and KCI Kinetic.
