FIRST TENANT FOR PIKE & ROSE

FIRST TENANT FOR PIKE & ROSE
Chris Weilminster
Federal Realty Investment Trust has signed its first retail tenant at Pike & Rose, or as Prince fans like to say, the shopping center formerly known as Mid-Pike Plaza. Yesterday the REIT (which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year) announced a 44k SF deal with premium movie theater iPic. ?We wanted to do something unique and different with this anchor slot,? leasing SVP Chris Weilminster tells us. It's the cinema's first East Coast location—Chris and his team visited its Scottsdale, AZ location and thought ?it would be amazing? for Rockville Pike. Chris tells us Federal Realty is in active discussions with tenants for the development's 150k SF first phase of retail space. ?We're focusing on restaurants, entertainment, and soft goods uses.? The idea is to create a critical mass of amenities for office tenants and apartment residents. Construction on iPic's space starts this fall; Phase 1 of Pike & Rose delivers in 2014.
