MIAMI!
December 7, 2010
We're not saying we opened up our ninth market two months ago so we could spend the winter inspecting progress. But, ahem, we have been there the last three days doing that. And, what do you know, we found Miami is still there! Actually, better than that. We took this from a boat in Biscayne Bay yesterday of the downtown skyline, much of which didn't exist eight years ago. Good news: dramatically beautiful. Bad news: dramatically overbuilt, especially the many condo buildings. Hmm, we'll have to keep inspecting. |
Aren?t these cool looking buildings (although that warm blue sky is also pretty nice) along Brickell Avenue, sort of the Wall Street of Miami: the Banco Popular building, Espiranto Santo Plaza, and the 70-story Four Seasons. Lest you think the latter is all hotel, actually it's 221 rooms in floors 20 to 29, offices below that, and residences above, some of which are available as hotel rooms as needed. |
Our terrific South Florida reporter, Natalie Keith, used to be Editor of NYC?s Real Estate Weekly, and came south to get warm. |
We're not making this up—it was ?only? 63 degrees at lunch, so when Natalie and your publisher ate on the outdoor patio, we were supplied with a smudge pot. |
