Mr. Roger
April 14, 2011
Sure, COPT loves leasing to BRAC contractors around Aberdeen and Ft. Meade, but did you know they're doing the same thing inAlabama? |
Yesterday, we snapped COPT COO Roger Waesche at his office in Columbia, where he told us the company plans to build 4.4M SF of office space outside Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville over the next 20 years. One 115k SF building there is under construction through a JV with local developer Jim Wilson & Associates, Roger says, with delivery in Spring 2012. As for our bustling metropolis, Roger tells us he sees BRAC tenants creating 4M SF in office space demand over the next three to five years at Ft. Meade, with another 3M SF at Aberdeen Proving Ground. COPT is positioning itself to takeadvantage of the trend: 200k SF at Northgate Business Park near APG delivers this summer. |
Roger describes himself as a "deal junkie," so we snapped him talking leases with VP George Swintz. George (who's based in Colorado Springs, Colo.) flew in to Dulles a few days ago and says the plane was packed with defense contractors. Also, we're excited to say that Roger is speaking at our first-ever Baltimore State of the Market event. Keep your eyes peeled for details this week. |
