PUBLISHER'S TRAVELOGUE: OUR FIRST EVENT IN AUSTIN
July 19, 2011
This morning, more than 350 turned out for our first event in Austin (a city, you may know, named for the father of the Republic of Texas,Stephen F. Austin, so we felt in the heart of things there). |
Austin's leading real estate owners, brokers, and financiers (like the real estate chief for the Texas State Retirement Fund, best-performing pension fund in the country last year) were uniformly optimistic about short- and long-term trends—though they warned of bumps like possible overbuilding and potential shortages of architects and contractors. |
Pretty amazing to have this view out your window at the conference hotel on Lady Bird Lake. |
Last night, we gathered with all the tourists on that bridge in the second picture above, where at sunset, like clockwork, a million bats fly out. Who knew? |
