Rosenberg Martin Greenberg's Caroline Hecker (in her Charles Street office this morning) tells us the city is doing its first comprehensive rezoning since 1971 (if you just realized you haven't bought new pants since the last time this happened, consider this a sign). The city says the new plan will be presented to City Council in March or April, though Caroline expects it'll be the end of the year before anything is enacted. She says now is the time for owners and tenants to review the draft form of the bill to see what kind of zoning is in store for their properties and take steps to comply or speak up. One example: Some C (for commercial, including retail and hotel) districts require structures to be built to the property line, eliminating the possibility of in-front parking.
