ULI HONORS DAVID CORDISH
Morgan Gilligan, David Cordish, and Terry Anne Hearn
This year?s ULI Baltimore District Council Lifetime Achievement Award winner mirrors the American dream. Cordish Cos chairman David Cordish (flanked by ULI Awards co-chairs Morgan Gilligan and Terry Anne Hearn) is the third generation in his family at the company, which his grandfather founded in 1910. David grew his development organization and, in turn, Baltimore grew too—from ?70s urban decay to a modern-day powerhouse. The turning point is the development of the Inner Harbor, he says, though he considers his greatest achievement to be keeping the business going for decades. The firm employs more than 10,000 people in two countries, and a fourth generation—sons John, Blake, and Reed—is on board. David's advice for today's go-getters: Be liquid. Have cash reserves. Come to the plate with equity. ULI's annual awards event is sold out, but find out more here.
