WAS ANNAPOLIS SIMPLY OVERLOOKED?
December 1, 2011
Hogan Cos CEO Larry Hogan (snapped this morning) is an apt speaker for Bisnow's Future of the Annapolis/BWI Corridor event coming up on Dec. 15, considering he moved to Annapolis and liked it so much that he moved his company there from Prince George's County 15 years ago. As the I-270 and I-95 corridors grew, he tells us, no one was thinking about going a little east to this historic town on the Chesapeake Bay waterfront (it has sailing and is an easy drive to either Baltimore or DC). Businesses are starting to notice, though, he says, and the quality of life is getting even better withupscale restaurants and retail. |
In fact, Larry's finding little reason to leave his current hometown, except maybe to check out land development opportunities in other frontiers like Odenton, where Hogan and Bonaventure are building240 apartments (above). Hogan is also looking for a JV partner to build apartments on land Hogan owns next to the Odenton MARC station. Bids are due this week, and Larry plans to decide among four or five interested companies by Wednesday. Sign up now to hear Larry, Jerome J. Parks' Jeremy Parks, MacKenzie Commercial'sChris Bennett, St. John Properties' Rick Williamson, and Linowes and Blocher's Midgett Parker (also chairman of the Annapolis Economic Development Corp). |
